Upcoming Events: Feb 18 (Leavenworth) and March 4 (Virtual)

Mark your calendars for a live event on February 18th at the Icicle Brewing Company in Leavenworth!

Join CWP cofounder, wildlife tracker and photographer David Moskowitz and project coordinator Cal Waichler for an engaging presentation about the Cascade’s most elusive mountain athlete: the wolverine. We will share stories, photography and research findings from eight years studying these wide-ranging, snow-dependent animals. Learn what makes wolverines so special and the threats they face. Cal and David will also discuss how community science plays a critical role in wolverine conservation and how backcountry users can contribute valuable data to support recovery efforts.

The short presentation will start at 6:30 pm on February 18th at the Icicle Brewing Company. It will be followed with plenty of time for audience questions!

We will have wolverine ID materials for backcountry recreationists to take home, plus hats and new t-shirts available by donation. This is a free event. We hope to see you there!

Or, join a Virtual Program on March 4th hosted by the North Cascades Institute

Event Details: Tracking Elusive Snowy Scavengers: Wolverines of the North Cascades – Online

If you have been eager to hear from the Cascades Wolverine Project, but live further afield, this is an event for you.

The North Cascades Institute is hosting project coordinator Cal Waichler for an engaging virtual presentation exploring the lives of North Cascades wolverines. You’ll learn about wolverine biology and behavior, current research and monitoring methods, and what scientists are discovering about the species’ resilience—and vulnerability—in a rapidly changing climate. Cal will also share how community science plays a critical role in wolverine conservation and how everyday backcountry users can contribute valuable data to support recovery efforts.

This program is on March 4 from 6:00 PM to 07:15 PM. You can register online here. The program costs $10.

If you can’t make the specific date or time of this class, you can still register and NCI will send you a link to view the program on your own time! All registrants will have access to the class recording for a limited time to re-watch too.
